Student Development
The Student Development office enhances student life by offering leadership programs, experiential education opportunities, and a variety of extracurricular and social activities which provide meaningful out of the classroom experiences for students.
Our office is located on the first floor of the Henry Student Center, at the heart of student activity!
Student Development Programs
Civic Engagement
Wilkes University offers students the chance to serve in all kinds of ways from providing meals to the homeless and donating blood to fundraising for local charities. Every year, Wilkes University offers a number of Alternative Spring Break Service Trips that enable students to gain field experience while helping others.
Adventure Education
Adventure Education is an alternative learning experience designed to challenge students to engage in physically demanding activities that emphasize wellness and provide practical leadership tools and lessons on teamwork. Students have the opportunity to sign up for activities such as white water rafting, skydiving, hiking and mountain biking.
Leadership Opportunities
Wilkes University offers a variety of leadership programs and services that promote self-awareness, problem solving, service learning and multicultural issues. The Leadership Institute aims to empower students to explore their own personal leadership styles.
Student Activities
The Office of Student Activities offers a variety of programs to choose from throughout the semester. Off-campus trips include exploring major cities in the Mid-Atlantic region, attending plays and musicals in local and city theaters and combining an educational experience with inexpensive entertainment.
Room and Vehicle Reservations
Student Development also oversees event spaces in the Henry Student Center and the Student Information Desk, as well as the student government-sponsored vans.
