Opportunities for Excellence
A Wilkes education extends far beyond the classroom.
The combination of academic and extracurricular experiences you pursue inside and outside of class will increase the return on your education exponentially!
Wilkes offers numerous opportunities for you to challenge yourself and flourish. So go ahead. Pursue more rigorous coursework, tackle a research project, dive into community service, seek openings to take on leadership roles, try new clubs, meet new people and explore new interests. Dare to imagine and then create your own unique path. Along the way, you’ll be better prepared for your career, graduate school or professional school – not to mention this journey called life.
Fulbright Program
Wilkes University seniors, graduate students and recent graduates may be eligible to apply for a prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant to study, conduct research or teach in over 140 countries.
Guthrie Scholars Program
A unique partnership with Guthrie Health System’s Robert Packer Hospital provides opportunity for a semester-long clinical experience, which includes clinical research, shadowing, surgery observation, access to the skills lab, and a ride on a medical helicopter.
Adventure Education
Our Adventure Education Program lets students learn leadership and teamwork, while having fun white-water rafting, hiking, and mountain biking. Our full-time adventure coordinator encourages students to step out of their comfort zone, while promoting wellness and self-awareness.
Study Abroad
As a liberal arts institute, Wilkes University values scholars who are broadly trained, critical thinkers and skilled communicators. The Study Abroad Office works to give all students opportunities to have experiences abroad, whether these experiences are a week, summer, or semester long.
