Why Choose Individualized Studies at Wilkes?
If you don’t find exactly what you’re looking for among the 45 majors and scores of minors in the broad catalog of Wilkes University’s BA or BS program offerings, the individualized study path could be a great option. You’ll need to submit a proposal articulating which courses you will take to reach the 120-credit requirement for what is, in essence, a custom major made just for you. Students who choose this path are encouraged to work with their advisors to formulate the plan to ensure that all requirements will be met.
What Will You Learn as an Individualized Studies Major?
In addition to the coursework you’ve chosen as part of your individualized study program, all students gain the following skills as the foundations of a Wilkes University education:
- In your first year, you’ll participate in the First Year Foundations program that will help you to develop self-knowledge and transition smoothly into the Wilkes community of learners.
- You’ll learn both written and oral communication skills for a variety of applications.
- You’ll be taught critical thinking strategies, quantitative skills, computer literacy and diversity awareness as part of a global community.
